1. Introduction
What is an AI visibility audit?
Imagine asking ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity: "What's the best restaurant near Pont-de-Vaux?". Does your business appear in the answer? In what position? With what arguments?
That's exactly what an AI visibility audit measures: it evaluates how your business is perceived and recommended by artificial intelligences.
Why it's become essential in 2026
- More and more people ask their questions to AI instead of searching on Google — traditional SEO no longer captures all the traffic, and this trend is accelerating
- AIs have biases — they recommend the businesses they "know" best. Moreover, zero-click searches are increasing: users get their answers without visiting a site
- Traditional SEO is no longer enough — you also need to work on your visibility in what are called LLMs (the "brains" of AIs)
- Your competitors are already on it — whoever doesn't audit their AI visibility gradually becomes invisible to a growing share of prospects
2. What AI Labs Audit actually does
AI Labs Audit is a comprehensive AI visibility audit platform. It automatically queries AIs about your business, analyzes the responses, technically audits your website, compares with your competitors, and generates professional reports. Here's everything you get:
7 AI visibility metrics calculated automatically
- Visibility Score (out of 10) — your overall AI presence rating: do ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini know you?
- AI Share of Voice — how often you're cited vs your competitors (per AI and overall)
- Mention Rate — how frequently AIs talk about you (also called citation rate)
- Sentiment Score (out of 10) — do AIs talk about you positively, negatively or neutrally?
- Average Position — when cited, are you the 1st recommendation or the 5th?
- Thematic Coverage — which topics you're visible on and where your blind spots are
- Native vs Web Score — do AIs know you "from memory" (training data) or only by searching the Internet?

What you get for free
| Plan | Price | Credits/month | For whom? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | 50 credits/month | Discover the platform |
| Starter | €29/month | 2,000 credits | Freelancers and small businesses |
| Business | €69/month | 7,000 credits | SMBs and agencies |
| Enterprise | €149/month | 20,000 credits | Large businesses and multi-client agencies |
How much does an audit cost? A complete audit with 10 prompts and 3 AIs uses about 40 credits (the cost depends on the number of tokens processed by each AI). With your 1000 welcome credits, you can run about 25 complete audits before subscribing to a plan.
You can also buy credits on demand (packs from 500 to 25,000 credits) if you need more flexibility.
The "My Credits" page — your balance, available packs and subscriptions
4. Create a client
Each audit is linked to a client — your own business, or one of your clients' if you're a service provider (marketing agency, SEO consultant, etc.).
Step 1 — Choose the creation method
From the dashboard, click on "New Client". Two options are available:
Choice between AI-assisted creation (5 credits) or manual (free)
Option A — AI-assisted creation (recommended) — 5 credits
This is the simplest and most effective option. Here's how it works:
- Describe the business in a few words (e.g. "Hotel Restaurant du Commerce in Pont-de-Vaux, regional specialties")
- The AI automatically searches for all available information: website, competitors, social media, reviews, etc.
- If the AI finds several similar businesses, it presents a list for you to choose the right one
- The AI pre-configures everything for you: client information, automatically generated prompts, pre-selected AI models
Option B — Manual creation (free)
You fill in the fields yourself. Ideal if you already have all the information at hand and want full control from the start.
Step 2 — Fill in the form
The complete creation form — the more information you provide, the better the audit
Essential fields
| Field | Importance | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Company name | ★★★ | The exact name as it appears online |
| Website | ★★★ | The full URL — enables the technical audit (GEO Score) |
| Competitors | ★★★ | 3 to 5 direct competitors with their websites |
| Industry | ★★ | Restaurant, E-commerce, Healthcare... |
| Main product/service | ★★ | What you actually sell |
| City and Country | ★★ | For local searches |
| Business description | ★★ | A paragraph describing the business |
| Social media | ★ | LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, X |
| Contact details | ★ | Contact name, email, phone |
| Dashboard mode | ★★ | Simple or Expert (see below) |
Competitors: a CRUCIAL field
Add 3 to 5 direct competitors with their name AND website. Without competitors, the audit loses much of its value as it can't compare your visibility to theirs.
Dashboard mode: Simple or Expert?
- Simple — 6 essential metrics + automatic action plan. Perfect for presenting results to your clients in a clear and understandable way.
- Expert — All available metrics, customizable prompts, configurable dashboard. For SEO/marketing pros who want to go in-depth.
Online / Offline choice
During creation, you can choose Online mode (business with web presence) or Offline mode (local business without a website). This choice adapts the generated prompts and analyzed metrics.
Step 3 — Validate and verify
Click "Create client". You'll land on the client profile that summarizes all information, audit steps, and competitors.
The client profile with audit steps, detailed information and identified competitors
From this profile, you have access to everything: AI Questions (prompts), AI Models, Run Audit, Dashboard, and PDF Reports.
5. Configure the prompts
Prompts are the questions that will be asked to the AIs to evaluate your visibility. They are the core of the audit.
Automatic prompts
If you used AI-assisted creation (or click "Generate with AI"), the platform automatically generates 10 essential prompts across key categories. Each prompt is personalized with your client's data.
| Category | What it measures | Example question |
|---|---|---|
| General Visibility | Appearing in category searches | "What are the best restaurants near Pont-de-Vaux?" |
| Local Search | Presence in geolocated searches | "Traditional restaurant within 20 km of Pont-de-Vaux" |
| Reputation & Reviews | Reviews, reliability, online image | "What is the reputation of Hôtel Restaurant du Commerce?" |
| Competitor Comparison | Positioning against rivals | "Compare Hôtel du Commerce vs Le Saint Georges" |
| Voice Search | Voice queries and assistants | "OK Google, recommend a good restaurant" |
| English Visibility | English-language presence | "Best traditional restaurant near Pont-de-Vaux" |
| Purchase Decision | Critical conversion moment | "Which restaurant to choose for a special dinner?" |
| And more... | Persona, differentiation, expertise, FAQ, CSR... |
A "General Visibility" category prompt — with its template, personalized version and weight
Anatomy of a prompt
Each prompt consists of 4 key elements:
| Element | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Category | The colored badge at the top | Indicates the test type: visibility, reputation, competition... |
| Original template | The "model" question with variables | "What are the best {product} in the {industry} sector in {country}?" |
| Personalized prompt | The final question with real data | "What are the best Regional traditional meals in the Restaurant sector in France?" |
| Weight | Importance coefficient (from 1.0 to 2.0) | Weight 10 = maximum importance. General visibility prompts weigh more in the score. |
Create your own prompts
You can: Modify existing prompts, Add custom prompts, and Use the library "My Base Prompts" to create reusable sets across all your clients.
Import and export prompts
A very useful feature for service providers managing multiple clients: prompt import/export.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Load Base Templates | Reloads the platform's default templates |
| Re-import Missing | Re-imports missing prompts compared to the full set |
| Import from JSON | Imports prompts from a JSON file (useful for loading a custom set) |
| Export Prompts | Exports all client prompts in JSON format |
| Download JSON Template | Downloads an empty template file to create your own prompts |
The "My Base Prompts" library — your personal library with its own Actions menu (import/export)
6. Run an audit — Configure the AI models
Choose AI models
From the client profile, click on "AI Models" or "Configure AIs". The platform gives access to over 336 models from 58 providers:
- OpenAI — GPT-5, GPT-5-mini, GPT-4.1, o3, o4-mini...
- Anthropic — Claude Sonnet 4.6, Claude Opus 4, Claude 3.5 Sonnet...
- Google — Gemini 2.5 Flash/Pro, Gemini 3...
- Perplexity — Sonar Pro (with built-in web search)
- DeepSeek — R1, V3
- Meta — Llama 4 Maverick/Scout
- Mistral — Large, Medium, Small
- And many more (xAI Grok, Qwen, Cohere...)
Parameters for each AI
Temperature (default: 0.7)
Analogy: It's like the "creativity" slider of a chef. At 0, they follow the recipe to the letter. At 1, they improvise freely. The temperature controls the degree of variability in responses.
- Low temperature (0.1-0.3) — The AI gives very predictable and factual answers.
- Medium temperature (0.5-0.7) — This is the recommended setting. The AI is both reliable and natural.
- High temperature (0.8-1.0) — The AI is more creative but less consistent.
For a visibility audit, keep 0.7 — it's the best compromise for representative answers.
Performance mode
| Mode | Speed | Cost | When to use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Normal | Normal | Default choice — good balance |
| Nitro | 3x faster | +50% | When you're in a hurry |
| Economy | Slower | -20 to -30% | When the budget is tight |
Web Search (option)
When you enable web search for a model, the AI will search the Internet before answering, instead of relying only on its memory. This is the RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) principle.
- Without web search = the AI answers with what it knows "from memory" (its training data)
- With web search = the AI checks online and gives more up-to-date answers
Recommended configuration to get started
For an effective first audit, enable these 3 complementary models:
| Model | Why choose it | Approximate cost |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Sonnet 4.6 | Excellent analysis, very detailed answers | Medium |
| GPT-5-mini | The most popular ChatGPT model, good value | Economy |
| Perplexity Sonar Pro | Built-in web search = fresh, current data | Medium |
Launch the audit
From the client profile, click "Run Audit".
Launch page — summary, cost estimate and previous audit history
You'll see a summary: the number of prompts and AIs configured (e.g. 10 prompts × 3 AIs = 30 queries), the cost estimate in credits, the estimated time (about 10-25 minutes depending on models), and the Premium Report option (automatic generation after the audit).
Click "Start Audit" and wait. Each AI will answer each prompt — in our example, that's 30 queries sent automatically.
7. Understanding Native vs Web Score
This is one of the most revealing metrics of the audit. It answers a simple question: do AIs know you "from memory", or do they need to search the Internet to find you?
The two scores explained
Score without Internet (Native Score)
This is what AIs know about you without searching the web. This score reflects your presence in the AIs' training data.
This score depends on: the amount of online content that mentions you (articles, reviews, mentions), the age and reputation of your business, and the quality and diversity of sources that mention you.
Score with Internet (Web Score)
This is what AIs find by actively searching the web. This score reflects your current digital presence.
This score depends on: your website quality (content, structure, SEO), your online reviews (Google, TripAdvisor, Booking...), your mentions in press, guides, directories, and your social media.
The link with AI parameters
The AI's temperature directly influences these scores:
- With a low temperature, the AI sticks to the most known facts → the native score is more stable but potentially lower if you're not well-known
- With a high temperature, the AI may "guess" or produce hallucinations about your presence → scores can be artificially inflated
That's why a temperature of 0.7 is the best compromise.
How to interpret the gap
| Situation | Meaning | Recommended action |
|---|---|---|
| Native Score ≈ Web Score | Your online reputation is well established in AIs | Keep doing what you're doing! |
| Native Score << Web Score | AIs don't know you "from memory" yet but find you easily when searching | Work on your reputation: press, links, mentions on authority sites |
| Native Score >> Web Score | AIs know you but your current web presence is weak | Update your website, listings and online content |
8. Read the results and Client Dashboard
The Client Dashboard — your complete control panel
After an audit, go to the Client Dashboard for a clear overview of all your results.
The complete client dashboard — metrics, scores, evolution over time, recommendations and action plan
Key metrics
The 6 key indicators of your AI visibility, with their evolution compared to the previous audit:
| Visibility Score | Your overall visibility with AIs. This is the "average" grade of your presence. Below 50%, there's work to do! |
| Presence Rate | Out of all questions asked, AIs mention you in X% of cases. |
| AI Share of Voice | When AIs cite businesses in your industry, you represent X% of mentions. |
| Average Position | When cited, you're on average in Nth position. |
| Sentiment | AIs talk about you in a rather positive or negative way (out of 10). Above 7 is good. |
| Thematic Coverage | You're present in X% of tested themes. There are topics where you're invisible. |
GEO Score — The technical audit of your site
The GEO Score (Generative Engine Optimization) evaluates whether your website is well optimized for AIs:
| AI Accessibility | Can AI robots access your site? (<a href="/glossaire/en/robots-txt" class="tuto-glossary-link">robots.txt</a>, sitemap, HTTPS) |
| Structured Data | Do you have Schema.org, <a href="/glossaire/en/open-graph" class="tuto-glossary-link">Open Graph</a>, canonical tags? |
| Content Quality | Is your content sufficient and well-structured? (headings, FAQ, 300+ words...) |
| Authority & Trust | Do you have credibility signals? (About page, bios, social media) |
Priority recommendations
The dashboard automatically generates concrete and actionable recommendations, sorted by urgency. Examples:
- Create an llms.txt file — A file that helps AIs understand your site (15 min)
- Add Schema.org / FAQPage — Tags that structure your data for AIs (2-3h)
- Add a FAQ section — The Q&A format is AIs' favorite (2-4h)
- Add Open Graph tags — For better social visibility (30 min)
- Add a canonical tag — For technical SEO (30 min)
Recommended action plan
A detailed plan with 12 actions sorted by priority, each with an explanation, diagnosis, difficulty level, expected impact, and progress tracking (Pending → In progress → Done).
Scoring scale
| Score | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 0 | ● Absent — the business is not cited at all |
| 2 | ● Position 5+ — cited very far down the list |
| 4 | ● Position 4-5 — cited but not in the top 3 |
| 6 | ● Top 3 — in the first 3 recommendations |
| 8 | ● Position 2 — second recommendation |
| 10 | ● Position 1 — first recommendation! |
9. Generate a Premium PDF Report
Why a PDF report?
The PDF report is essential for agencies and consultants who need to present results to their clients professionally. It's also an excellent sales tool to convince new prospects.
Export options
- Export PDF — Standard report with all raw results
- Premium AI Report — Enhanced report with in-depth analysis and AI-personalized recommendations
- Export CSV — For analysis in a spreadsheet (Excel, Google Sheets)
The Premium AI Report — The added value
The Premium Report goes well beyond a simple data export. It includes:
- Executive summary — A digest of key results for busy decision-makers
- Detailed analysis — Each metric is commented and contextualized
- Competitive comparison — Your position against rivals, visualized
- Prioritized recommendations — A concrete and quantified action plan
- Detailed GEO Score — The technical audit of your site with fixes
- Time evolution — If you have multiple audits, trends are plotted
White-Label customization
For agencies and service providers, reports are fully customizable:
- Logo — Replace the AI Labs Audit logo with yours
- Colors — Adapt the color scheme to your identity
- Brand — Present the report under your own brand
- Contact — Your contact details appear instead of AI Labs Audit's
Automatic configuration
Before launching an audit, you can enable the option "Automatically generate premium report after audit". The report will then be generated automatically once the audit is complete.
Access report history
From the client profile, click "PDF Reports" to access the full history of all generated reports. Handy for finding an old report or resending it to a client.
10. Ongoing monitoring and best practices
The audit is not a one-shot!
The AI visibility audit is a continuous monitoring tool, not a one-time diagnosis. AIs constantly evolve (new versions, new training data), and your online presence changes too.
Recommended audit frequency
| Situation | Frequency | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Basic monitoring | 1× per month | To track natural evolution |
| After corrective actions | 1-2 weeks later | To measure the impact of your changes |
| Site launch/redesign | Before + 1 month after | To have a "before/after" |
| Highly competitive industry | 2× per month | To stay reactive |
Mistakes to avoid
- Not filling in competitors — the audit loses 50% of its value
- Running a single audit and never coming back — it's continuous monitoring
- Only modifying prompts without acting on the website — prompts test, but it's your site that needs improving
- Ignoring Perplexity — it's the AI that gives the best results thanks to web search
- Choosing models that are too expensive for a routine audit — GPT-5-mini is often enough
- Not completing the client profile fully — the more info, the better the audit!
Optimize your AI visibility score
1. Take care of your website
This is the foundation. AIs heavily rely on your site to recommend you.
- Schema.org — Add Organization, LocalBusiness, Product, FAQ tags
- Structured FAQ — AIs love the Q&A format
- XML Sitemap — So AI crawlers can easily find your pages
- llms.txt file — A new standard that helps AIs understand your site
- Rich content — At least 300 words per page, with hierarchical headings
2. Create targeted content
- Blog articles about your specialties and expertise
- Comparative pages ("Our restaurant vs the alternatives")
- Geolocated pages for local search
- Factual data — Prices, hours, dates, precise numbers. AIs love concrete data.
3. Strengthen your online presence
- Google Business Profile — Complete it 100%, respond to reviews
- Review platforms — TripAdvisor, Booking, Yelp... The more reviews you have, the better
- Local press — Get mentioned in articles
- Tourist guides — Logis Hotels, Lonely Planet, etc.
4. Monitor your competitors
- See which AIs cite them best and why
- Identify the sources they have that you don't
- Cover the topics where they beat you
Provider Dashboard — For multi-client agencies
If you manage multiple clients, the Provider Dashboard (accessible via "Dashboard" in the menu) gives an overview of your entire portfolio:
Portfolio overview — average scores, clients, evolution, credits and consumption
- Average scores across the portfolio (visibility, share of voice, mention rate)
- Client list with key metrics per client
- Evolution chart over 6 months
- Credits and consumption
- Global action plan
- Recent audits
